Backstory: Tonks wakes up
[This journal sort of presumes a slight AU in which Tonks and Remus happen to survive the Battle of Hogwarts. Otherwise this Tonks is completely canon through DH. This is the beginning of what will be an RP log in which Tonks wakes up after the final battle. She has no idea what's happened to Remus, or even that Voldemort has been defeated.]

Tonks woke slowly, as though her body were reluctant to regain consciousness. The reason for this reluctance became apparent very quickly, and Tonks’ first thought was bloody fucking hell.
Her second thought was, well, at least I can be pretty sure I’m not dead. She didn’t think being dead would hurt this much, after all.
Firmly resisting the urge to slip back into unconsciousness, Tonks then tried to get her brain working enough to figure out where she was, and remember how she got here.
There had been a battle. Remus had wanted her to stay behind, at her mum’s with Teddy, but of course she wouldn’t do that. No bloody way would she sit around wondering what was happening, who was dying, if Remus would come home or not. Besides, she’d been sitting around being useless for months while she’d been pregnant with Teddy. This was her first chance to actually do something after he’d been born.
So she’d gone to Hogwarts to find Remus.
It had been like clockwork, for a while. She and Remus worked well together, like two halves of a whole. It had gone to hell, though, as Bellatrix had drawn her away from Remus’ cover.
The last thing she remembered was being hit from behind by something, and the pain, and then she must’ve blacked out.
She was definitely at St. Mungo’s, that much she could establish immediately. It was a private room, so Tonks couldn’t figure out which ward she was in. She was also alone, and it took only another brief moment to figure out why this disconcerted her so.
Remus. Where was Remus? What had happened to him? Tonks knew if he’d been able, he would be with her, waiting for her to wake up, so why wasn’t he here? She contained her panic long enough to reassure herself that it was possible he’d just stepped out for a moment, to use the loo, or eat something, or maybe get some much-needed sleep. She didn’t even pay much heed to the sounds that the walls didn’t quite muffle, loud bangs and booms that she first thought must be the sounds of a thunderstorm, but then realized they were of a slightly different quality. Fireworks?
Still, her hand was shaking as she located the button which would call in a Healer.
“Oh, wonderful, you’re awake,” the young man said as he entered briskly. “We were starting to wonder – “
“Where is Remus?” Tonks asked, cutting him off with her raspy voice, hoarse from disuse. “My husband, you dolt, has he been here?”
The Healer gave her an affronted look and waved his wand to call up a list. “Lupin?” He asked, and Tonks gave a derogatory sniff, which he took as assent. “No other Lupins on the visitors’ list,” he said with a shrug. “Everything’s in a bit of disarray, though, ma’am, what with You-Know-Who being defeated and everyone running about pell-mell…” He looked downright joyous, but Tonks was getting angry and panicky at the same time.
“Do I look like I bloody care about bloody fucking Dark Lords?” She asked shrilly. “If you don’t find out where my husband is, I’ll go looking for him myself!” She tried to get up but a wave of nausea suddenly hit her and she had to lie back down, fighting the urge to vomit and sob all at the same time. What if he’s dead? a voice in her head wailed.
It was then that a familiar, commanding voice broke through Tonks’ panic and she could breathe again, for the moment. “Mum!”
